Meet the Team
Co-Directors & Speakers
The founder of Joy for the Journey Ministries is Tammy Whitehurst. She was a middle school teacher for 16 years before bringing her message of hope, joy, and laughter onstage full-time to audiences.
She is the author of a devotional, High Heels and Hallelujahs, and her uplifting articles have been published in LifeWay’s HomeLife, Christianity Today, Seek magazine, Evangel, Mature Years, Women’s World and several other publications.
Tammy and her husband, Davis, are empty-nesters living on a lake in East Texas. To those who know her best she is simply Davis’s wife, an empty nest mom, and a former middle school teacher. She struggles like the rest of us with dust, dishes, cellulite, junk drawers, too much coffee, and wrinkles.
Lori Boruff connects with women who are tired of being squelched by fear and who are ready to soar to their full potential. She does so from a heart of experience.

Lori and her husband enjoy lake life in the Midwest, especially evening pontoon rides with family and friends.

Linda is a multi-award-winning author, renowned speaker, board-certified life coach, and host of the popular podcasts “Your Best Writing Life” and “Staying Real About Faith & Family.” With a voice that instantly makes you feel welcome, safe, and understood, Linda is the kind of person you can’t help but be drawn to.
Alongside her husband, Sam, Linda is the proud parent of four amazing children, numerous grandchildren, and one adorable great-grandson. They reside on the outskirts of the picturesque Texas Hill Country.
Linda is here to provide professional teaching, helping you overcome barriers, amplify your strengths, and achieve the fulfilling life you were destined to live as a speaker.
Thirty-seven years in Christian publishing, Athena Dean Holtz pioneered the independent publishing movement in the Christian space in the early 90’s. Publisher of Redemption Press, she is chief visionary for the pandemic pivot She Writes for Him movement of virtual conferences, challenges, compilations, and community. Her memoir, Full Circle: Coming Home to the Faithfulness of God (Redemption Press 2017, 2023), continues to resonate with and inspire readers. Redemption Press qualified 2 years in a row for Best Christian Workplace and Athena recently wrote a book with her husband, Ross, Together for a Purpose: Love and Mission in Marriage and Ministry.(Redemption Press 2022)
Carol is an author, speaker, and co-owner of Redemption Press. Her passion is discipleship of all ages as she has served many years on staff at the local church in every capacity from kids’ ministry to worship ministries. She is married to Kelley, and they have ten fun and super cute grands. They have the best life ever together in Gilbert, Arizona. She also loves super-sweet iced coffee, spending time with friends, and the color yellow.
Carol is the author of the 2022 Selah Award Bible Study winner, Ezra: Unleashing the Power of Praise.
Shelly comes with a diverse business, entrepreneurial and ministry background that includes start-up businesses, business development and senior management leading and building teams, radio talk show host, writing, speaking and transformational discipleship. In addition to co-leading Redemption Press she serves with Love UnVeiled, a transformational discipleship ministry that helps women experience healing, transformation, and freedom to become who God created them to be.
Shelly lives in Orlando, Florida and is mom to three adult children, two daughters-in-love and Grandma to three grand-beauties.
BJ Garrett is an award-winning author and speaker. She holds an associate of divinity degree from BMA Theological Seminary.
She is a thrill seeker, loves white-water rafting and is rarely seen without lipstick. But more importantly, she shares the love of Jesus with passion and authenticity.
Peg Arnold, Speaker/Author/Teacher, is a Drama Queen for Jesus. Her interactive and inspiring workshops and messages empower and equip others to step into their God-given purpose. As a wife to Rick and Nana of seven, Peg creatively shares the joys and challenges of these life experiences through her writings, dramas, messages and personal witness.
You can find those devotions in her book, Devotions for the Distracted Heart, on YouVersion, the Upper Room and several other anthologies. Peg grew up in Michigan, raised her family while finishing her Masters in Maryland, and now lives in Colorado close to those grandkids.

Victoria Chapin is a speaker, chaplain, and author who inspires others to embrace adversity as she lives by the truth found in John 10:10; Jesus came that we may have life in abundance. Her book UNdaunted – A Prayer Journal encourages intimacy with God and equips readers to walk boldly in Christ. Victoria has been featured on Christian programming as well as numerous podcasts. She and her husband Jim live in Southwest, MI where they are the Co-Founders of Do Life 2 The Full Ministries. She is a mom to twelve and a “Grammy” to fifteen who enjoys everything coffee, especially when shared with friends.
Michelle Ruddell is a speaker, author, and retired teacher from Central Texas. She shares from experience that joy and sorrow can coexist, and that the joy of the Lord is our strength that sustains us through tough times.
Her book, Welcome to the Club—I’m Sorry You’re Here, is written to offer hope to grieving parents.

In this interactive workshop, you will learn how God formed our minds and explore the effectiveness and impact of using drama, props, and visual aids to help illustrate scriptures and concepts to capture attention, trigger emotion, and improve retention.
