Christmas has become a day of pretty packages piled high around a twinkling tree. Gift givers often top a precious item with a crisp colored ribbon that draws the attention of the receiver. Some ribbons pop off like a kernel of pop corn while others are as tight bond as a bail of bobbed wire. Only a wrestling match untangles the knotted colored cord before the real gift is revealed.
The distraction of trees, twinkling lights, and twisted ribbons hides the real gift of Christmas now a days. There has been one Christmas show after another this month, but few show the core gift of Christmas. The movies have been entertaining, colorful, but without revealing God’s gift to all people.
God has called us, Christian speakers, to give voice to the Gospel of Christ our Savior and Redeemer. The Gospel story begins with the gift of Christ Jesus’ birth.
Therefore, let us wrestle the holiday ribbon on the worldly Christmas to share the single gift of Jesus Christ wrapped in swaddling clothes as a babe.
Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!
2 Corinthians 9:15
Lovers of the Lord, let’s pause on Christmas, turn off the bling, and follow the shepherd’s lead by “glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen (Luke 2:20)” on the night of Christ Jesus’ birth. By pondering the true gift of everlasting life in Jesus Christ, we have much to speak about all life long.
Merry Christmas to all and to all who brag on our Lord Jesus Christ.
Shine and speak on!
