The message of Jesus is simple–so simple that even a child can understand. And yet–if we’re honest–we must admit that sometimes we wrestle with finding just the right words to impress our listeners.
Of course, I’m not saying we shouldn’t speak clearly and visually, but we certainly don’t need to make the Gospel and our words to describe it more complicated than it is.
Jesus is God’s Son.
We are sinners.
We can’t be good enough to get to heaven on our own.
We need a Savior.
That Savior is Jesus.
He is the sacrifice for our sin.
He took the punishment we deserve.
We believe it.
We accept the gift He offers.
And we are clean.
End of story.
Simple words, clearly spoken, and powerfully demonstrated, just as Paul described.
My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with a demonstration of the Spirit’s power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom, but on God’s power.
1 Corinthians 2:4-5
May we always rest in the power of His words and not depend on our own.
Grace and peace be yours in abundance,
