Give thanks to the LORD, for He is good; His love endures forever. Psalm 107:1
Ever wake up in the dumps? I have!
If I didn’t take action then the whole day feels like I’ve gargled with grumbles that I can’t spit out fast enough.
However, I’ve learned how to trump the grumbling dumps with grabbing my camera. Then I start prowling to snap shoot happy things. Capturing pictures of things, places and people that reflects the light that the Word of God called into place connects me to happiness. Thankfulness begins to melt the grumbles. Often the joy that swells within causes me to speak aloud praise. There’s usually no one around to hear me but the Lord. At that time His light seems to get brighter and I see more joyous thing to snap.
When the demands of the day calls me to put away the camera, “thanks” has trumped the grumbles. Then praise begins to pour out when interacting with others instead of bellyaching for perfection.
Do I question why I sometimes wake up in the dumps any more? No!
Instead, I question where’s the camera as I look to see where the “thanks” will trump the grumps.
