It’s the week of Christmas and for most of us, writing and speaking are the last things on our minds. But as we go through our week of decorating, gift-wrapping, parties, family gatherings, and worship, let’s keep our eyes and ears open…and a notepad handy!
Did you forget to put the sugar in the chocolate chip cookies? Does your misfit uncle think a string of burps qualifies as family entertainment? Did your grandma give you a new nativity set this year, complete with a blue Smurf Jesus?
Did your family cook for the homeless, make candy for the neighbors, or give money to the Salvation Army? Did your child accept the true Gift of Christmas?
If so, grab your pen and write it down!
Just think for a moment of all the Christmas movies, books, and songs and messages we love at this time of year. Do you ever wonder how many of those scenes and story lines were taken directly from real life?
What about Christmas devotions? Most of the examples are straight from the writer’s experiences and revelations.
This week as we marvel at God’s Gift in The Baby sent to save us, let’s also marvel at the goodness of God to create us as writers and speakers…and then send us something to write and speak about!
“…For my eyes have seen your salvation,
which you have prepared in the sight of all nations:
a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and the glory of your people Israel.” Luke 2:30-32
Christmas blessings as we celebrate the Gift and the Giver!
