What Gives You a Thrill?
Some people are thrilled when they parachute out of an airplane. Others find their thrill riding roller coasters with their hands held high in the air.
My thrill is seeing an introvert stand up and speak to an audience about their passion. The moment of chills and ear-to-ear grins escapes, when I see a shy speaker transform during their presentation. I’m especially amused when they go from self-consciousness to unconscious enthusiasm as they talk about the heart of their message.
Watching a new speaker is like watching a butterfly break though their cocoon then pauses to take a few deep breaths before soaring beyond their self-image. The speaker discovers the Spirit of freedom. To watch this transformation is a fleeting moment of amazement and pure pleasure.
A butterfly outclasses a moth because she doesn’t destroy what is before her. The butterfly is a connector instead. Her connection pollinates flowers, plants, and trees to grow when she moves on.
Speakers become connectors too. When a speaker goes beyond herself to touch members of her audience with her passionate message, she ignites new life before she leaves the stage.
Seeing connecting moments between speakers and audiences is a thrill to my soul when Christ is glorified. The experience is always gratifying.
Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.
What gives you a thrill? What’s your passion?
How has the Lord transformed you? Has the Spirit unveiled a new freedom in you?
Your comments would be a thrill too!
