When overwhelmed with responsibilities, needs, and family demands, I’ve found time out over a cup of tea and a chat with a loved one brings unexpected blessings.

Our daughter and her family were blessed with a new home recently. The move went well even while being mom to two active boys, going the extra mile as a minister’s wife, and balancing her photography business.

However, the detailing on the house was being pushed back day-by-day, then week-by-week. She was becoming frozen in frustration with what to do next for there was still so much to do. Her goal was to make the house a clean and comfy home.

After the boys were settled in school and hubby set off to work, Stacey and I sat at the breakfast table and paused in prayer while our hot tea cooled. Pouring out our hearts to God warmed our hearts and calmed us for open conversation.

As we chatted, Stacey showed me photos of decorating ideas she had put on her Pinterest page. Her page reminded me of the CCC purpose boards.

As she talked about different items she had pinned on her beauty board for creating a cozy home, her frustrations started melting away and motivation started taking hold of her.

After finishing another cup or two of tea, we changed into work clothes, stirred paint, and began making the walls fresh with new paint.

Her pinned board gave her a visual, but the prayers put motivation into action.

What would you put on your beauty board or purpose board today for motivating you when frustration or stagnation binds you?

For me, I need to create a beauty board of fashion. My clothes are beginning to look tired. As much as I hate to shop (yes, shopping is not my thing), I need to update my wardrobe.

Therefore, on my board I’ll paste/pin outfits for fun, sports, business casual, and professional speaker wear. I need inspiration to get me to the mall or my dear friend from Denver who makes shopping fun. Maybe, I should just put her beautiful picture on the board.

Beauty comes in so many ways. The day when our daughter was so overwhelmed, God created a beauty board with pictures of bowed heads in prayer, teacups on the breakfast table, a personal Pinterest page, paint cans opened, and believers taking action in His provision. His blessings were showing.

By the end of the day, the caption on the beauty board read,

Our mouths were filled with laughter, our tongues with songs of joy. Then it was said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.”  Psalm 126:2

Uplifting blessings,
