What makes us shine in our presentations one day and the next time we’re as flat as bubble-less soda?
For me diligent preparations aren’t enough to deliver an illuminating presentation. The difference maker is keeping my daily devotional date with Jesus Christ. Being in His uplifting presences brings the sparking distinction.
The last nine months has caused my heart to race out of control because of all of the items on my to-do list. The list became my focus. A check mark to show completion was my fixation. However, often when a check mark was earned; more urgent items were added to the list repeatedly by me!
Little by little, I started standing Jesus up on our morning date. Crawling out of bed and working bleary eyed at the computer before my first cup of tea became the routine. The projects were worthy, but the productivity came from my head and not my heart. Even delivering reliable presentations felt luster-less.
One morning as the blush of dawn was coming over the horizon, my heart sang out with praise for being able to see God’s beauty. In that private moment of awe, I confessed that I was putting projects before Him.
Scripture whispered to me in that moment,
Look! I have been standing at the door, and I am constantly knocking. If anyone hears me calling him and opens the door, I will come in and fellowship with him and he with me. Revelation 3:20 (TLB)
Once again, I’m keeping my daily date with the Lord. Being in His presence ignites me with His light that I love to pass on in my presentations. He alone is the shining difference in all Christian communicators.
