We never know when we are going to be asked to give a critical message. One like, “Do you really believe Jesus is with you always?”
For decades, I had been sharing with an extended family member about Jesus Christ being the difference maker in my life. Why was it that she asked me this profound question in the heart of heavy lunch hour traffic on the busiest street in town while I’m driving?
There was no eye contact with her while I navigated and told her, “Yes, I do!” Turning my head left to right quickly to watch the traffic didn’t match my words. I could feel her eyes focused on me for the answer she finally was seeking.
All the training I’d received and given about how to deliver a meaningful message couldn’t be applied in these moments. With a lighting flash prayer, I asked the Lord to send His angels to protect us in the traffic and for Him to speak through all of the distractions.
The traffic may have been horrendous but it was the perfect platform for answering her question with Christ speaking via me. As I drove into the parking lot, I was relieved that we made it safely out of the traffic. I was ready to talk with full focus. Yet, she was finished with the conversation. I can’t remember what was exactly said.
The reply wasn’t scripted or practiced. However, it was and is the truth within my heart that’s ready to be delivered when anyone asks a critical question. Christ in me can handle both raging traffic and critical question. He proved Himself that day that moment, in that setting that He’s with me always.
How about you, do you have a story of proof that Jesus Christ is with you always? I hope you’ll take a minute to brag on Jesus being in your life.
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Matthew 28:20 (KJV)
