Lecturing is not my style.
Like looking for the perfect presentation dress, I’ve tried on too many speaking styles until I found what made me comfortable and the audiences notice my messages!
I tried on multiple methods during different seasons of my life. Now, I pick styles that are right for each occasion and audience; yet, keeping my signature look and delivery.
My basic foundation is a story that shows the results of skills I teach and how the applications changed lives.
The accessories are added as I think of each audience. Some audiences’ attention is captured when I wear bling. Other groups listen best when my style matches theirs in jeans and jackets. One accessory that fits all the time is a smile. However, masks are rarely appropriate anywhere.
My speaking fashion is to reveal proven truths through storytelling, teaching immediate application skills and serving the audience with simple hospitality. My total look is diversity with layers of interests for the audience to detect as they listen, learn, and apply new discoveries that will make them shine with a comfortable speaking style all their own.
In August, Vonda and I will be teaching at the BillyGrahamLearningCenter at the Cove again. Our guests will hear about professional dress, see different presentation deliveries, and participate in life changing activities. We hope you will be able to join us and discover your comfortable communication gift.
Note: I still seek out new speaking methods to try on in order to test the latest in techniques to present the best to our guest. However, there’ll not be a lecture on the topic, you’ll have to show up and see what it is or experience the application in one of the workshops.
Let service be our style like the P.31 woman.
She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come. She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue. Proverbs 31:25-26
