“Ho! Ho! Ho!” is it short for “Holy! Holy! Holy!”?

I’m a storyteller who has used Christmas decorations as props to show how Santa fits in the Christmas season. Little children ask to hear the stories again and again. Adults smile and take it all in.

The cross-stitch pillow of Santa is a perfect prop for telling young boys and girls about the Good News Gospel of this being the season for giving. Often I share the stories as if Santa would be telling them. The pillow prop is a visual of Santa with his arms stretched out wide and showing the children that Jesus stretched His arms out wide to show them how much He loves us all.

“Every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2:11

The next decoration is a conversation starter, which shows Santa reverencing Christ Jesus. This is another visual that puts the Christmas season into perspective.

“At the name of Jesus every knee should bow…” Philippians 2:10

My grandsons have been quick to ask for me to tell them stories over the years. Now, I ask them to tell me stories. To my amazement they are quick to repeat the heart of the stories from these two Christmas decorations.

Christmas decorating is putting on display what is in our hearts. Some can be props for teachable moments. Others can be reminders to pause during this busy season to reverence Christ who came to stretch out His arms with the gift of love.

Decorate on!
